Coach Brian Idalski wondered before the season whether this UND women’s hockey team would be the deepest in program history. The answer may have come this weekend. Playing without its top two scorers, UND cruised to a 5-1 win over Bemidji State in the Sanford Center, finishing off a two-game sweep.
UND has lost another recruit to Canadian major juniors.
Forward Ryan Gropp, a highly recruited player who was off to a slow start in the British Columbia Hockey League, has opted to leave the Penticton Vees and sign with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, making him ineligible for college hockey.
